Hi, I did a search for this after my father told me to check it out online. My name is Ginger De Los Rios, my father has been the Superintendent of Fillmore Gardens for the last 25 years. I used to hear stories of the day camp that was once there. That sounded like so much fun.
When I was growing up in Fillmore, everyone was grouchy and always yelling at me and my few friends just for playing ball! Haha. That was back in the eighties. There were barely any children in that time, so we were the only 'trouble makers..' but not really, compared to some of today's kids!
In what is now the main office of Fillmore Gardens there are bulletin boards with tons of old photographs from the camp, mostly group photos of the counselors and kids. I think I noticed one or two of them in your pictures section.
I am actually trying to start a little side business of fixing up old photos and I also make slideshows and do some video editing. It's nothing major, but my goal is to help people preserve and recapture good times and memories. If you would ever be interested, I can show you samples of my work. :)
But, I really just wanted to pop in and compliment this blog, and the pictures are really cute. Thanks for sharing these Fillmore memories.
